Koinè

A family lamps designed for Luceplan - Milan, Italy 2022

The Koinè family of lamps designed by the studio Mandalaki for Luceplan is a perfect balance between technology, elegance and purity of form. The core of the project is the light source, to which to apply a custom-designed mineral lens. The beam of light conveyed by the lens is homogenous and clean, a cone of light that is wide yet at the same time has clear contours. The borderline between light and shadow becomes precise, without mingling. Thanks to careful orientation of the light, Koinè never causes glare and thus ensures total luminous comfort.

The reflector is a cap with a mainly decorative role. Alongside high technological and luminous performance, Koinè offers a sound-absorbing version: the reflector becomes a cap in 60% recycled felt, an effective aesthetic touch that permits improvement of acoustic comfort in spaces, reducing reverberation and propagation of sound waves. Inside, an aluminium portion completes the surface and contributes to support the felt, while also dissipating heat from the light source.
